This government website provides details about your environmental compliance and responsibility. And how to improve your environmental performance.
This scheme is currently for organisations that consume over 6,000MWh of half-hourly metered electricity (2008 calendar year).
This not-for-profit organisation aims to supports businesses in reducing carbon emissions. They can provide advise and have some very useful documents which can be downloaded for free.
The Carbon Trust Standard has now been achieved by a number of organisations. The Standard certifies real carbon reduction and commitment to ongoing reductions.
The Emission Factors used in the Carbon Challenge are those provided by DEFRA. These are updated annually, however you can see the current and historic emission factors here.
Department of Energy and Climate Change
This is the government department with a number of priorities which include reducing energy usage both from home users, businesses and the public sector. They also work to ensure action at an international level to tackle climate change.

The Energy Saving Trust can provide free impartial advise with regards to energy and fuel efficiency, both at work and at home.
This programme aims to support the development and growth of low carbon services in the North West.
They host a number of events where you can meet organisations which can offer low carbon alternatives, they also have a library of useful case studies and publications.
This website provides useful information about green cars. Not just electric but also fuel efficient cars, biofuels, hybrid cars and so on.
This charity not only offer activities within local communities, they also (through their Environment Business Services) can provide training and advice on business environmental issues such as resource efficiency and carbon reduction.
Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership
This partnerships is working to accelerate the Uks move to lower carbon vehicles and fuels.
They provide useful webinars and events. There is also a free monthly newletter, which can keep you up to date with industry developments.
Manchester City Council's Environmental Business Pledge
This scheme between Manchester City Council and Groundwork is designed to provide free advice and awards to businesses within Manchester.
This independent educational charity works with businesses to reduce their carbon emissions. They offer free advice and web-based support, both for home users and businesses.
National Grid (Calorific Values)
If you are converting your gas usage into kwh, you will need the monthly average Calorific Value for your area, this can be found here.
Here you can find a whole host of environmental legislation and guidance. This converts what can be complex legislation into understandable English.
