Rory heads up the Airfield Planning team of David, Shaun & Steve. If you have any queries relating to Airfield Planning then please feel free to contact any member of the team.

Background: Started at Manchester Airport in 1980 in Handling Services.  With Airfield Operations since 1986 as Marshaller, Apron Controller, Airfield Duty Manager, seconded to operational planning on a number of projects including Runway 2.  Gained a Private Pilots Licence in 1994.  In post since 2005.

Responsibilities:

  • Policy maker for airfield infrastructure and operating procedures
  • Editor of the Aerodrome Manual
  • Directs operational planning for the safe management of airside construction works
  • Directs team to produce operational studies and concept designs for new and improved airfield facilities and operating systems
  • Ensures aerodrome licensing compliance in respect of aeronautical surveys and data, obstacle limitation

Projects:

  • Airfield Masterplan: new taxiway system and designations
    Revision of runway holding positions
  • Reduction of aerodrome obstacles
  • Airfield readiness for Airbus A380
    Re-configuration / optimisation of apron stands and roadways
