Airfield Operations Document Library

Within this library you may view and download a range of manuals and other operational documents, some of which are essential reading for anyone with business on the airfield or aprons.

All the documents are published here in PDF format – for which you’ll need to have the latest version of Adobe Reader.  Some of the files, particularly for the manuals, are quite large and may take a minute or two to open or download.

Many of the documents in this library are maintained as ‘live’ documents. This means they are regularly updated with new content. The point to remember with this is that whenever you download or print off a document to hard copy it could be superceded by a new version at any time. That is why it’s important to check the Document Library often to ensure you are working from the latest, most up-to-date version. To help with this, we will always send out an email reminder whenever we update an existing document or publish a new one, reminding you to check MAGWorld for the latest edition. This email will always come from the address airfieldoperations@manairport.co.uk. Please make sure that you have this address added in your spam filter to ensure you receive all communications from us.

Most important is the Aerodrome Manual – the ‘meat-and-bones’ where in Part 1 you will find all the basic information about the aerodrome facilities, and in Part 2 the detailed operating procedures in the form of Airport Standing Instructions. Part 3 is generally known as the Emergency Orders, and is viewable only by those likely to have an involvement in responding to emergency scenarios.

Also of great importance are the Airside Directives (ADs). These can be quickly recognised by the yellow title bar down the right-hand margin). ADs are notices which publish a change to facilities, procedures, or advise about an activity which requires changes from the normal operating procedures for a temporary period. Most apply to some form of airside construction or maintenance works, but also to special events such as when a major sporting event generates a lot of additional air traffic. The ADs viewable in the Document Library will be those which are currently valid or are coming into effect within the next 14 days or so. ADs will disappear from the page once expired.
