Safety Improvement Plan

The Safety Improvement Plan (SIP) was first produced in 2007 and detailed 58 safety initiatives that the airport community had collectively agreed would enhance the safety of passengers and staff alike. 41 of these were completed including the introduction of runway entrance Red Stop Bars, new anti-abuse notices on all check-in desks and creating Inter-Stand Clearways for new and reconfigured stands.

The 2009/2010 plan carries forward the remaining initiatives and includes 15 new actions for this year. Every action is owned by individual airport based managers, supported by members of industry teams. Progress is reviewed at all committees and councils within the Safety Management Structure.
