Support for Cheshire gardens of distinction

Schools from Wythenshawe, Knutsford and other areas close to the Airport have been working with local artist Andy Leigh to promote Cheshire Gardens of Distinction and their work has now gone on display in Manchester Airport.

Wendy Sinfield, Community Relations Manager for Manchester Airport, said: “The airport aims to focus our community work on those areas that are close to the Airport and suffer the greatest economic and social need. By working with the Gardens of Distinction project we have been able to take young people, many from urban schools, out in to the countryside and gardens of Cheshire. We’ve worked with community artist Andy on several occasions in our work with local schools and we knew that the work would be a welcome addition to our terminals.”

In all there will be 27 pictures produced during 2011 and the first 7 have now gone on display in the Terminal 3 Domestic Baggage reclaim area. An 8th has already been delivered from the work of Statham Primary School who visited Walton Hall and Gardens. Nine more are expected this summer.
