Arts Project with Museum of Science & Industry

The Project
Manchester Airport is working with the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) to provide an exciting arts project for a total of eight local primary schools. Classes from five Wythenshawe schools have already visited different Airport locations, to sketch features that have then been developed into sculptures. Each sculpture will be exhibited in the Museum for a month and the school children get the chance to visit the museum to see their artwork on show.

Local Artist

Local artist Andy Leigh has worked with the Airport and delivered one and a half days support to each school, coming with them on the visit, to encourage the children to unleash their artistic flair and record details which they work with back at school in the art sessions. Andy said:

“This project has been so exciting for me, the pupils and I have learnt things about the Airport we didn’t know before. The variety of subject areas has allowed me to very creative and the enthusiasm and talent shown by the children has been quite staggering”.
