What is the Aerozone?

The Aerozone is East Midlands Airport’s inspirational education centre. Offering both pre-developed and bespoke opportunities for students of all ages, you get to learn about how an airport works, whilst experiencing the sights and sounds of this interesting workplace.
From check-in to security, to marketing and environmental work, there are many different roles available, requiring a vast range of skills.
Aerozone offers opportunities for groups from school classes, to extra-curricular groups and community groups. Developed with support from East Midlands Development Agency, through the Catapulting Kids further! scheme.
What’s on offer?
The Aerozone can be laid out in a number of different ways to meet your needs, and can accomodate groups of up to 40 seated. An interactive whiteboard is at your disposal to access ready made materials to give your day the ‘wow’ factor and help you fly away with a great feeling. Additionally, laptops and printers are available for interactive and inspiring sessions.
School Groups
From primary school through to college classes, there are opportunities for you to get an understanding of how the airport operates day to day. More information
The Aerozone offers ready-built and bespoke packages, covering Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), Geography, Travel and Tourism, Business Studies and more.
Generic risk assessments are available to schools by contacting us. Please note that East Midlands Airport accepts no responsibility relating to information or wording contained within these risk assessments. It is the responsibility of lead teachers to complete any required documentation for their local authority prior to visiting the Aerozone.
Extra-curricular groups
The Aerozone is a great place to bring extra-curricular groups. All groups are welcome, from youth groups to Scouts, Guides, Rotary, community groups, Women’s Institutes etc.
East Midlands Airport has worked with youth groups from Castle Donington and Kegworth to develop the third in a series of art sculptures for the airport’s perimeter Trail. With expert guidance from Derby based artist James Swain and created by blacksmith, Andy McCallum, the Valentine’s Tree is a great example of how East Midlands Airport can work with your group.
Bookings must be made at least four weeks prior to your visit.
