About this resource

This resource looks at the environmental issues that affect the air transport industry in general and Manchester Airport in particular.

It provides an insight into environmental management strategically and on a day-to-day basis.

The site contains interviews with independent specialists based at Manchester Metropolitan University's Centre for Air Transport and the Environment and Manchester Airport's environment team. The environment team at Manchester Airport is responsible for Air Quality, Noise, Waste, Water, Landscaping and the airport's Second Runway Trail.

The focus of the resource is:

  • Sustainability of the air transport industry.
  • How Manchester Airport monitors and minimises its impact on the environment on a daily basis.


The resource will be useful for teachers and students of Environmental Science, Science, General Studies and Citizenship at A level and diploma level 3.
